Over 130 years of history living for and by wine.
The history of our family is written from 1890, as a project of four generations deeply-rooted in La Rioja and dedicated to discover the peculiarities of our land, to transmit them though wines full of character.
We go back to the XIX century when Pablo Álvarez Alfaro founded his first ever winery in Aldeanueva de Ebro. Years after this, he will establish the first point of sale of his wine in San Sebastian, thus initiating the extensive wine production trajectory within the family.
This century-long tradition continues nowadays, directed and managed by us, his direct heirs.
In 1999, Pablo Bretón Ruiz, renovates the spirit and BODEGAS Y VIÑEDOS ÁLVAREZ ALFARO is born, with the aim of upholding the family tradition thanks to the inherited non-conformist nature that will lead to the production of original, elegant and full of personality wines thought to satisfy anyone who taste them.
“The respect for what our ancestors have bequeathed to us and perpetuate it over time, it is our essence.”
– Pablo Bretón Ruiz –
