At Bodegas Álvarez Alfaro, the 2024 harvest marks a special year for our vineyards in Aldeanueva de Ebro, located in the heart of La Rioja Oriental. Unlike the previous campaign, where the ripening of the grapes was accelerated due to climatic factors, this year the vines’ vegetative cycle is following a more natural rhythm. This allows us to anticipate a harvest that will respect the natural timing of the varieties we cultivate, giving us the opportunity to obtain a high-quality yield. One of the highlights of 2024 is the evolution of our white Grenache vines. This variety, which has found its ideal home in our lands, is showing a very balanced ripening process. We expect to start harvesting these plots during the second half of September, along with some of the Tempranillo vineyards, as long as they have reached the optimal ripeness we seek in the winery. On the other hand, our red Grenache vines will require a little more time. This variety, characteristic of our region, will need additional days to achieve perfect ripeness. Based on our analyses, we estimate that the harvesting of these grapes will extend into the end of September and the beginning of October. This slight “delay” compared to other varieties is expected and is part of the process that ensures we obtain grapes with exceptional concentration and quality. Although the weather has been favorable so far, as always, we remain vigilant about the climatic conditions. If no significant anomalies occur, we are confident that the 2024 harvest will yield outstanding quality grapes, worthy of the wines that represent our winery and family history. We are excited to share this important moment with our customers and friends, and we invite you to follow the progress of the harvest at Bodegas Álvarez Alfaro. As every year, our commitment is to offer wines that reflect the essence of our land and the unique character of our vines.Cheers to a great 2024 harvest!
